ABSTRACT

Objective@#To formulate an evaluation scale on daily stressors with good reliability and validity for urban secondary school students, and to provide a tool for psychological stress assessment.@*Methods@#Based on steps of instrument development, a pool of items regarding the daily stressors of junior/senior high school students was constructed by combining existing scales of adolescent life events or stressors, and a preliminary survey was conducted for items analysis and dimension evaluation among 393 middle and high school students in 2 districts of Shanghai. Then confirmatory factor analysis of the scale was conducted among 2 949 students collected by stratified cluster sampling from 11 districts in Shanghai.@*Results@#The final 28 item daily stressors evaluation scale for urban secondary school students, with an overall Cronbach s alpha coefficient of 0.94, consists of 8, 7, 7, and 6 items for the four dimensions of academic stress, physical and psychological stress, interpersonal stress and family stress, respectively. The Guttman s split half reliability was 0.88, and the test retest reliability was 0.68. Total scores of the 28 items reflect general psychological stress level of participants, with higher scores representing higher stress intensity. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the root mean squared error of approximation ( RMSEA ) and the standardized root mean square residual ( SRMR ) were both less than 0.08, while all fit indexes were above 0.8.@*Conclusion@#The Daily Stressors Evaluation Scale for Urban Secondary School Students, with good reliability, validity and model goodness of fit, can be applicable for urban secondary school students.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#The current situation and associated factors of primary and middle school students screen time and related eye hygiene in different periods before and after COVID-19 were investigated, so as to provide a scientific basis for taking targeted measures of preventing and controlling myopia among those students.@*Methods@#A total of 11 402 students were selected from 24 primary schools, 18 junior high schools and 16 high schools by multi stage stratified cluster sampling method. And a questionnaire survey was conducted among students and their parents to understand students screen time and screen hygiene behaviors and related factors in different periods before and after the outbreak of COVID-19.@*Results@#The rate of screen overuse was 7.26%, 9.12% and 35.30% during school days, weekends and home study, respectively. The overuse rate of mobile phones and tablets at home increases with the increase of school stage. Totally 16.30% of students use mobile phones for online learning. The screen overuse rate of those who have not been diagnosed with myopia was lower than that of those who have been diagnosed during home study( OR=0.77, P <0.05). The higher the parents educational level was, the lower the screen overuse rate of children during the weekends became( P <0.05). In any period, the high proportion of screens used in homework and poor home screen eye environment increased the risk of screen overuse and poor eye hygiene ( P <0.05). Parental good behavior was conducive to reducing the risk( OR= 0.65-0.97, P <0.05). When the family had regulation on the screen use time, the implementation of laxity would increase the risk of screen overuse ( OR=1.18-2.48, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#The screen overuse rate of urban primary and middle school students during home study is high, and a certain proportion of students still use mobile phones for online learning. The proportion of screens used in homework, home screen eye environment and screen use management are related to screens overuse. More attention should be paid to those with myopia and low educational level of parents.

ABSTRACT

@#[Abstract] Objective: To investigate the effect of long non coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00308 on proliferation, invasion and migration of prostate cancer cells and its related mechanism. Methods: lncRNAs and mRNAs differentially expressed in prostate cancer tissues and adjacent control tissues were screened by gene chip, and LINC00308 and TRIP13 (thyroid hormone receptor interactor13) were identified as the research objects. The effects of LINC00308 on the proliferation, invasion and migration of prostate cancer cells were detected by MTT assay, plate cloning, Transwell and scratch test. The above effects were verified in nude mice xenografts. The effect of LINC00308 on expression of TRIP13 in tumor tissues and cancer cells was detected by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. Bioinformatics analysis, RIP (RNA immunoprecipitation), qPCR and Double luciferase gene reporter experiments were used to predict and explore the interaction mechanism between miR-361-5p and LINC00308 as well as TRIP13, and plate cloning and Transwell invasion test were used to verify the biological behaviors of cancer cells. Results: Both the microarray results and qPCR confirmed that the expressions of LINC00308 (P<0.01) and TRIP13 (P<0.05) were abnormally high in prostate cancer tissues and four cell lines; cell function test results showed that overexpression of LINC00308 could promote the proliferation, invasion and migration of prostate cancer PC3 cells (all P<0.05), while down-regulation of LINC00308 in prostate cancer cells had the opposite effect. In nude mice. LINC00308 could promote the tumorigenesis of prostate cancer cells in vivo, and increase the expression of TRIP13 both in vivo and in vitro (P<0.05). Bioinformatics analysis, RIP, qPCR and Double luciferase gene reporter results confirmed that miR-361-5p could bind to 3'-UTR of LINC00308 and TRIP13 respectively, and LINC00308 could act as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR-361-5p to regulate the expression of TRIP13. In addition, MTT, plate cloning and Transwell assay confirmed the regulatory interaction among LINC00308 miR-361-5p and TRIP13 from the levels of proliferation, colony formation and invasion in cancer cells. Conclusion: LINC00308, which is abnormally highly expressed in prostate cancer tissues and cells, can inhibit the expression of miR-361-5p and enhance the expression of TRIP13 by exerting its ceRNA function, thus promoting the proliferation, invasion and migration of prostate cancer.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Aim: The role of low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT) in erectile dysfunction (ED) is not clearly determined. The purpose of this study is to investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of LI-ESWT for ED patients. Materials and Methods: Relevant studies were searched in Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WANFANG and VIP databases. Effective rate in terms of International Index of Erectile Function-Erectile Function Domain (IIEF-EF) and Erectile Hardness Score (EHS) at about 1XSmonth after LI-ESWT was extracted from eligible studies for meta-analysis to calculate risk ratio (RR) of effective treatment in ED patients treated by LI-ESWT compared to those receiving sham-treatment. Results: Overall fifteen studies were included in the review, of which four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were for meta-analysis. Effective treatment was 8.31 [95°/o confidence interval (CI): 3.88-17.78] times more effective in the LI-ESWT group (n=176) than in the sham-treatment group (n= 101) at about 1 month after the intervention in terms of EHS, while it was 2.50 (95% CI: 0.74-8.45) times more in the treatment group (n= 121) than in the control group (n=89) in terms of IIEF-EF. Nine-week protocol with energy density of 0.09mJ/mm2 and 1500 pluses seemed to have better therapeutic effect than five-week protocol. No significant adverse event was reported. Conclusion: LI-ESWT, as a noninvasive treatment, has potential short-term therapeutic effect on patients with organic ED irrespective of sensitivity to PDE5is. Owing to the limited number and quality of the studies, more large-scale, well-designed and longterm follow-up time studies are needed to confirm our analysis.

ABSTRACT

Background: Acute ischemic stroke in adults was given an Explicit Guarantee of diagnosis and treatment (GES) with Clinical Guidelines in 2007 as part of the on-going Chilean National Health Reform. Aim: To evaluate the adherence to official guidelines with regard to the use of diagnostic methods for patients with acute ischemic stroke during their stay in a public hospital. Patients and Methods: The study included a review of the medical records of 101 patients aged 70 ±13 years (49 males and 52 females) diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke and discharged within August and September of 2008 and 2009 from a public hospital. Three trained ob-servers independently determined the degree of dependency of patients at discharge using the Modified Rankin score. The completion of recommended diagnostic tests (electrocardiogram, carotid Doppler ultrasound and echocardiogram) as well as their overuse was evaluated. Results: Ten patients died before discharge, 38 percent were discharged with and 52 percent were discharged without disabilities. Nineteen percent of patients with a Modified Rankin score of two or less (corresponding to a slight disability) had a complete diagnostic workup, compared with 87 percent of patients with a score of 3 to 5 (moderate to severe disability). In 27 percent of the patients, there was an overuse of diagnostic tests. No association between the diagnostic test use adequacy and year of discharge was observed. Conclusions: There exists a disparity between the recommended diagnostic testing and the actual tests completed among patients with acute ischemic stroke.
